Dear Parish Family,
I hope that you’ve been taking advantage of and enjoying the Msgr. Walter C. Orlowski Wellness and Recreation Center. It is heartwarming to see the constant flow of parishioners walking the Track and using the Workout Room. Through the efforts of the Rec Center Director, Jay Egan, we have been able to rent out the Lower Level Court to two different basketball groups. The rental income is especially needed at this time to help pay for the upkeep and maintenance of the center.
As the winter season approaches, we’ll be transforming the gym floor into a turf court/field house beginning in December. The turf will be down from November 28 until March 17, 2023. I’m really excited for all of the opportunities we’ll have once the turf goes down, from soccer to field hockey and lacrosse. We have rental contracts in place for soccer and lacrosse teams. We’re also planning varied activities utilizing the turf that will be available to the parish community on the off-hours.
In December we’ll post an up-to-date Rec Center calendar on the website which will allow you to view the times when the gym floor is reserved for rentals, various programs that will be available to our parishioners to participate in, and when there is “Open Gym.”
Please stop by the office to pick up your key FOB, if you haven’t already done so. With the colder weather approaching, it will be great to have an indoor space to meet, walk, workout and stay fit.
