psalm

Composer, Maestro John Rutter, stated:

Choral music is not one of life’s frills. It’s something that goes to the very heart of our humanity, our sense of community, and our souls. You express, when you sing, your soul in song.

It is this exact sentiment I bring to the creation of psalm. A new and innovative choir ensemble for the young adult and college aged singer, seeking to continue their love of faith through choral music. By transcending the notes on the page and allowing the music to speak through them, it is my hope that the congregation that hears them will be moved and their worship enhanced.

Members are required to attend a weekly rehearsal that will take place on Sundays, directly after the 12:00 Mass that they will sing weekly. This is designed with the understanding that young adults have busy lives, school and jobs and to allow them to participate with only one weekly Mass/Rehearsal that will also include a complimentary lunch on Sundays.

While it is very helpful if members can read music, it is not necessary for membership. If you are musical and have a desire to learn, you are most welcome!

So, if you have outgrown the Youth Choir but not ready for the Adult Choir…this is for you! Singing in a choir is proven to bring out musicality, enhance mental health, increase your confidence and enable a feeling of belonging to a community.

If you are a young adult who loves to sing, loves music, loves your Faith…consider joining psalm.
