Norwalk, CT
Monday, October 21
7:00am-5:00pm in the Great Room
St. Matthew is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday, October 21 and we need donors! By giving an hour and a half of your time, you can save up to three lives.
Former Norwalk Police Detective Mark Edwards was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer. He has since received numerous blood transfusions. Mark served as a Norwalk Police Officer for 28 years, retiring as a Detective in 2014. He is now a lieutenant with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, a division of the CT State Police.
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. The need for blood is constant, but only 3 percent of the U.S. population donates.
By rolling up a sleeve, donors can play a critical role in the treatment of accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for
leukemia, cancer or sickle cell disease.
